In-patient care

Occasionally children with CF need to be looked after in hospital so that they can be given treatment that would be difficult to have at home. Most often this will be to have intravenous antibiotics (antibiotics given through a special tiny tube into a vein), usually for 2 weeks. During this time, children will stay in the hospital overnight. Parents can stay as well (usually just one parent at a time). All the hospitals in the OCCFN try very hard to make sure that when children with CF are in hospital that they have their own single room.
