Welcome to the Oxford children's cystic fibrosis network
The OCCFN looks after almost 200 children with CF who live in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire and a few from further afield who have chosen to have their care with us. All children in the UK are cared for by clinical teams who work within networks based at one of 26 CF centres. To try and keep care as close to home as possible, children are seen at their local hospitals for most of their outpatient and inpatient care. In our network the CF centre is in Oxford and the local hospitals are in Milton Keynes, Reading, Northampton, Wycombe/Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park.
The information in these webpages is for the families who use our service. There is also a section for the clinical teams which include clinical guidelines for care - these are to remind us of what to do when particular problems come up. Families are welcome to read these pages as well and to ask questions of their clinical teams if greater explantation is required. Other CF units also produce clinical guidelines. They are very similar to our own, but if you want to have a look at what other units do, click on the links tab at the top of the page.

What should you expect from your CF network?
There are national standards of care for children with CF. These are described in a document called the national service specification. The key standards are available here. The full version of that document is available from the NHS England website (see Links) and also here.
